INFERTILITY: IS THERE HOPE? 2 OF 3

Treatment of infertility in females usually starts with medication especially in cases where the female fails to ovulate. Other conditions such as blocked fallopian tubes and the presence of endometrial lining tissues outside the uterus, can be treated surgically. And of course, there is the most popular In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Other assisted reproductive processes include assisted hatching and Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).

Male infertility can be treated depending on their specific diagnosis. Blood tests can indicate hormone imbalances, diseases that may affect fertility or genetic disorders. For men who have low sperm counts, hormonal treatments may help increase sperm count. Surgery is one of the options to correct varicocele wherein the vein that runs along the testicles becomes dilated and therefore affects sperm count. Intra-uterine insemination and In-Vitro Fertilization are also some of the methods to help infertile men.
